This is much more Rock than any recent collection of mine. Kravitz, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, The Von Bondies, Phoenix and The Twilight Singers. They represent the new sound of Rock, while The Moody Blues and The Zombies are here for a '60s Brit Pop fix.

R&B takes a back seat this month. But there are new singles from Brandy and R. Kelly. I am not ashamed to admit that I really like R. Kelly. Say what you will about his personal problems but he has the best voice in the business. I have a recent affinity for mid-80s R&B. A perfect example of the age is Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You," a huge hit from 1984.

Hall & Oates? Why not, it's harmless.

I recommend buying RJD2's new album "Since We Last Spoke." RJD2 is a clever DJ and Producer with heavy R&B and Rock influences.

Rock and R&B. The themes of this month's music picks coincidentally.
