The January Mixtape
{Previous Mixes}

With few exceptions this mix is all about a new wave of indie rock. Nine Black Alps, The Arcade Fire, The Dears, Razorlight and Bloc Party, who have been called the next Franz Ferdinand, whatever that means. "The Porpoise Song" is a Monkees cover from some intense Austin rockers with the strangest name in the business, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, who will release a new album on January 24th. Vying for second place on the weird band name circuit are Dogs Die in Hot Cars. How about a tour with Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Death Cab for Cutie and Nine Black Alps with Nine Inch Nails?

The tracks from 50 Cent, The Mars Volta, Erasure, Bloc Party and Nine Black Alps are all advance singles from upcoming releases that should have impact in 2005. The DJ Reset mash-up has received a lot of attention as it brings together "Frontin'" by Pharrell Williams with Beck's "Debra."
