The Gayest Songs of All Time

My iPod has long had a playlist called "gay songs" where I stash the most embarrassing love ballads and pop trash. That's what I mean by "gay," the sixth grade usage of the word referring to lameness and sappiness. These songs are guilty pleasures that make me want to hold up a lighter or remember some break-up. But ones that I try to keep in the closet, so people still think I am cool.

But I think everyone likes gay music sometimes and can relate. It is why James Blunt has a career and why Journey is popular at modern proms. And why I am confident enough to share my gay playlist:

Mariah Carey - "We Belong Together"
Journey - "Don't Stop Believing"
Ashlee Simpson - "Pieces of Me"
Kelly Clarkson - "Since U Been Gone"
Lifehouse - "You and Me"
Train - "Calling all Angels"
Maroon 5 - "She Will Be Loved"
Daniel Bedingfield - "If You're Not the One"
Kiss - "Forever"
Cheap Trick - "The Flame"
Nick Kershaw - "Wouldn't it Be Good"
Michelle Branch - Goodbye to You"
Breathe - "How Can I Fall"
Heart - "What About Love"
Genesis - "In Too Deep"
Phil Collins - "Against All Odds"
John Waite - "When I See You Smile"
James Ingram - "Just Once"
Lionel Richie/Diana Ross - "Endless Love"
Savage Garden - "I Knew I Loved You"
Natasha Bedingfield - "Unwritten" (aka the theme for The Hills)

Any more suggestions? Drop me a line.

BTW, this should not be confused with Rolling Stone's Gay list, which actually is for gay themes and artists. Here I thought they were just being snarky like me!
