The Many Faces of 007

Aug. 12 - This week's Entertainment Weekly is celebrating Fall films staring with the next James Bond adventure Casino Royale. Since there is a new Bond (Daniel Craig) the issue comes with imaginative covers for each of the previous Bond actor debuts as if EW was there to cover them. This uncovers all kinds of pop culture questions.

Miami Vice is Nice

July 30 - I am so glad that Miami Vice made it to No. 1 at the box office this weekend. I loved it even though it was very different than the TV show, but I did not expect it to click with audiences. It made just over $25 million this weekend and will likely gross over $100 million before it is through. I would like a sequel if it held up to the sharp style and performances put to screen by Michael Mann in this film. It is a gritty Miami Vice... read more

The Name's Cornell, Chris Cornell

July 28 - While I am not sure about the new James Bond (Daniel Craig) I do like the premise of Casino Royale. Now word comes that the title song will be performed by Chris Cornell.

Vendetta Ice
1st Quarter Box Office Report

2006 Movie Preview
Feb. 21 -
Here is the Culture Drift guide to the films of 2006. In some ways they show a return to form. David Fincher (Seven) profiles another serial killer in Zodiac, Scorsese directs a mob tale (The Departed), Bryan Singer (X-Men) gives life to Superman and Mel Gibson looks for a different ancient language to put on film in Apocalypto.
Oscar Crash
March 5 - Crash surprised many with the Best Picture award. As for the telecast and John Stewart's performance, I enjoyed this year more than most. He was calm and comfortable. I thought his opening monologue was so-so, but redeemed by many witty one-liners and observations throughout the ceremony. Read more
Fame Ranking the Batman Actors

Dec 11 - In looking at the stars of the four pre-Batman Begins films you witness the rise and fall of fame. Like how those who were once top-billed are now less than famous. Or how the guy some say ruined the franchise may be the biggest star in the world today. Who was big then and now?

Music Tales
The Next Wave of Musician Biopics

The lurid and lavish lifestyles of rock stars are tailored made for the screen. The success of Ray brings to mind other artists that could fit the same template and who should play them. more

This is another list according to me, but it's my site so what do you expect? This is my list of classic films that have stood the test of time, brilliantly told a story or were perfect in execution. see the list
