The Name's Cornell, Chris Cornell
The new James Bond movie is one that I am highly anticipating. I like how the Casino Royale story is going back to the beginning with a younger, less experienced Bond who recently attained his "double-0" status. But I am not sure about the new guy, Daniel Craig. I think they are looking to make him more Bourne Identity gritty real over suave superhero.
I better get used to him because last week Craig was signed for a second Bond film to be released in 2008. As for Casino Royale, expected November of this year, its title song will be performed by Chris Cornell, singer of Audioslave and former Soundgarden lead. It will be called "You Know My Name." With Cornell the song can go two ways - crunchy rock or nice ballad (remember "Sunshowers" from that Ethan Hawke/Gwyneth film Great Expectations?)
Having a guy sing a Bond song is rare. The last one was Aha's Living Daylights from 1987. The only other ones have been by Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Tom Jones and Matt Munro. All the rest have been performed by women, Madonna being the most recent in 2002's Die Another Day.
